FUTURE VISUAL BOOSTS WEAVR CONSORTIUM EXPERTISE WITH CROSS-REALITY PLATFORM, VISIONxR™

Weavr, the sports and esports immersive technology framework that is part of UK Research and Innovation’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund examining audiences of the future, are delighted to announce that immersive technology experts, Future Visual, have joined the consortium for its next phase of development.

The consortium, which also consists of members from ESL, University of York, dock10, REWIND, Focal Point VR and Cybula will team up with Future Visual to deliver immersive personalised experiences for fans across any device including VR and AR.

Future Visual’s expertise in delivering cross-reality immersive content using their platform VISIONxR™  led to the invitation to join the consortium. Founders of Future Visual, Tim Fleming and Iestyn Lloyd, both with strong backgrounds in entertainment and developing popular IP’s (their track record includes BAFTA award winning content and content for Fatboy Slim world tours) are perfectly placed to create an immersive space for esports fans as a natural development of their technological and creative ambitions.

Tim Fleming, Future Visual CEO & Co-Founder ,:

“We are delighted to join the Weavr consortium, as it aligns perfectly with Future Visual’s vision for remote collaboration, this time in the context of sport and entertainment. Future Visual’s platform VISIONxR™ is well suited to do much of the lifting required to enable collaboration within immersive spaces for esports fans on any device, anywhere in the world. In addition, the huge range of talent and expertise present in the consortium will enable us all to move the needle on how audiences of the future consume sporting content.”

James Dean, ESL UK CEO, added:

“From the moment we saw what Future Visual could offer, we knew they would be the perfect addition to the Weavr project. Incorporating their VISIONxR™ platform will allow a rapid integration of new immersive experiences for fans as well as bringing in the valuable expertise of Tim, Iestyn and the team. As we move into the second year of the project with a new partner in a very different global situation, Weavr is now perfectly placed to demonstrate the latest technology available to audiences of the future in esports and beyond.”

The next set of features for Weavr will be demonstrated at a range of esports events this summer. For more information visit weavr.tv and follow Future Visual on Twitter.
